Waterlogging Risk Assessment: An Undervalued Disaster Risk in Coastal Urban Community of Chattogram, Bangladesh

In recent years, rainfall-induced waterlogging has become a common hazard in the highly urbanized coastal city of Chattogram, Bangladesh, resulting high magnitude property damage and economic loss. Therefore, primary objective this research was to prepare inventory map understand spatial variations risk by means intensity, exposure, vulnerability waterlogging. research, factors influencing hazards were determined from participatory survey, other data, including land elevation, population, structural collected secondary sources. The analytical hierarchy process applied measure exposure estimated overlaying data onto intensity map. A total 58 locations identified as affected, which covered ~8.42% area. We showed that ~3.03% area greatly vulnerable terms their social, infrastructure, critical facilities, economic, environmental vulnerabilities. obtained index suggested ~2.71% study at very risk, followed moderate (~0.15%), low (~3.89%), (~1.67%). analysis presented simple method can be assess relative different regions, results applicable prevention mitigation for Chattogram City.
